Overview

Responsible for assisting with overall functions of the Production Control department. Job specific functional responsibilities include Logistics/Logistics planning, special shipping (expedites) and the development and sourcing for new and existing packaging requirements including packaging trials and internal approval process.

Responsibilities

  1. Communicate with suppliers regarding logistics and packaging for current and new models.
  2. Create and coordinate the weekly shipping schedule with PC parts ordering specialists and company specified logistics company. Distribute and communicate schedule to internal stakeholders.
  3. Develop and implement truck and shipping routes for dedicated, milk run and/or LTL shipping methods.
  4. Participate in daily/weekly department status report activities and department meetings.
  5. Coordinate and communicate with all related departments for new product launch, model change, and Engineering Change activities related to packaging and logistics requirements
  6. Complete purchase requisitions and purchase orders after securing appropriate packaging approvals.
  7. Work closely within the Production Control department to ensure timely completion of packaging requirements and development of logistics schedules.
  8. Create project plans and schedules to ensure on-time delivery of required packaging requirements.
  9. Support profit-based objectives by working within PC budget constraints as well as identification of kaizen opportunities.
  10. Coordinate special shipping activities for new program development samples and prototypes (as needed).
  11. Any other PC support-based activities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field required; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

 Experience:

  • Greater than 4 years of Production Control experience in a manufacturing facility required. Automotive environment preferred. Tier 1 experience a plus.
  • Production Control program launch experience for new programs with emphasis on packaging development and support of on-going packaging replenishment needs.
  • Experience in working with logistic companies and development of support trucking routes.
  • Experience with Toyota or Mazda launch systems and requirements preferred.
  • Previous exposure to a multicultural office environment preferred.

 Personal/Technical Skills:

  • Basic math ability required (i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Understanding of conceptual math (i.e., basic geometry, charts and graphs) required.
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of automotive plants and processes, company products, trade terminology, quality management and control systems and techniques, manufacturing processes, tooling and equipment, and machine operation.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering documents such as automotive drawings (component, assembly, and equipment), technical standards, design specifications, general tolerances, critical characteristics, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Engineering Change Instructions (ECI/ECN), Prototype Parts Requests (PPR), and color instructions.
  • General understanding of Toyota Production System (TPS) is preferred.

 Language Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Computer/Software:

  • Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.).

Work Environment/Conditions:

 

Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level.

 

Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level.  PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas.  Expected to wear company gear. Personal attire standards may apply.

 

Travel: Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear.  The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing and will be expected to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
